Gift Guide 2019: Local San Diego Food Gifts
/One of my favorite topics is of food and I wanted to create a gift guide of local, small business foodie gems that you can send to someone that loves or misses San Diego. Everything on this list would be great for a host/hostess, a foodie you love, or someone that you can’t think of a gift for. All of the items I have chosen can be bought and shipped online! These are all family favorites of ours except for the hot sauce and the croutons. I found those two while doing research and had to include them because they seem so delicious!
1. Rickaroons- These are my new obsession- heavenly little coconut bites (my faves have chocolate chips) that give you energy and satisfy your sweet tooth. They are a family owned company and have really figured out the best recipe for energy bites!
2. Julian Apple Pie- this is a CLASSIC pie that San Diego is known for!! They have so many different ones and they ship! So delish hot out of the oven!
3. Baker & Olive- I’m obsessed with oil and vinegar. No seriously, I can drink them, especially at an oil/vinegar tasting room. All of the Baker + Olive ones are perfect and I have a few stashed in our pantry that I ration accordingly.
4. Jackie’s Jams- I love these jams!! She makes so many flavors like the blood orange. Something I wanted to include on this list was a bread but none of the local bakeries ship (Con Pane, Charlie’s Best Breads, and Bread & Cie are our favorites) and this jam is delightful on top!
5. Sweet Bricks Toffee- OMG. My friend and our realtor, Nicole Mazzola, sent this insane toffee to us as a Christmas gift after we bought our house with her. OMG. OMG. It’s SO GOOD. Our fave is the cookies and cream but they are all amazing. I ordered us a sample box for that will come before Christmas. URGENT- she is only making a small batch this year and it sells out super quick- who knows how much is even left- so place your order ASAP!!!
6. Bump Coffee- this is our FAVORITE coffee. They are right next VG Donut so we come here a lot. I buy their bags of beans for Craig to make at home and my stepdad even said that it was the best cup of coffee he ever had!
7. Kelly’s Croutons- these look amazing and happen to be Vegan. I need these in my life!
8. Cardiff Crack- the FAMOUS Cardiff Crack! This is special marinated tri-tip that you can only get at Seaside Market which happens to be down the road from us! They thankfully ship this little baby. My mom brings a cooler when she comes to visit and takes a frozen one with her (it’s defrosted by the time she gets home to use for dinner!).
9. Baby Clydesdale hot sauce- this sriracha sauce looks awesome and would spice up any boring dinner- another one I’ll be ordering!
